Rachel (Suspending) 8"
The Rachel is an absolute must have for serious musky and pike anglers looking for a versatile lure that excels in a wide range of conditions. While highly effective when fished as a traditional crankbait, the Rachel truly shines when worked with a hybrid crank and jerk retrieve. This unique presentation combines the attraction of a crankbait with the erratic triggering action of a jerkbait, creating a deadly combination for trophy predators.
One of the Rachel’s most effective features is its suspending behavior. When paused, the lure hangs naturally in the strike zone, giving following fish an opportunity to commit. Sharp twitches, jerks, and aggressive rips cause the Rachel to dart unpredictably from side to side, closely imitating a wounded baitfish attempting to escape. This erratic action often triggers reaction strikes from fish that would otherwise follow without committing. Whether fished around weed edges, rock structure, timber, or open water bait schools, the Rachel delivers year-round performance and versatility. Designed to excel in all seasons and conditions, it is a proven predator-catching tool capable of producing strikes from even the most pressured musky and pike.
STEVE HERBECK PRO TIP: The Rachel excels when fished with an aggressive crank-pause-jerk cadence around weed edges, rock bars, and suspended baitfish. After several turns of the reel, pause and let the bait suspend motionless before snapping it with a hard jerk. Many of the biggest musky and pike strikes occur during the pause or immediately after the lure darts erratically in a new direction. When fish are following but not committing, increase the length of your pauses and always finish with a wide figure eight at boatside.
